Lynda Monk II

The large white piece in the previous post is the beginning of the vessel we started making with Lynda. I've just finished distressing and painting mine, and you can see the results below. The first has the felt and puff paint zapped with a hot gun. This is a close up
This is it painted with gesso and with pieces of scrim applied, then gesso'd (?) again.

And another close up

This is great fun!

Off home to get my dinner now. I think my husband thinks I've left him!

Lynda Monk workshop

More time off today; this time to attend the Lynda Monk workshop organised by Chelmsford Embroiderers' Guild.

All I can say is, if you get a chance to go on one of Lynda's workshops, you MUST! She was so generous with her knowledge and samples - we even got a CD with notes on that is almost a complete book full of information!

These are the samples we did in just a few hours .....

.... and there were loads of other pieces of Lutradur, Tyvek and stuff left over for us to play with at home!

The workshop has solved a problem I've been having with my C&G vessel, which hasn't been going the right way. I know what I'm going to do now though! Off to have a play.

Busman's Holiday

Well, it wasn't a holiday really; I took the shop to Goldhanger, to Tea and Textiles, in support of the Eastern Region Textile Forum. We had a lovely chatty day in a beautiful setting. Julie's house used to be the village bakery, and the front room had been converted into a 5o's style shop for a special village event last weekend. I had the pleasure of setting up shop in the shop! You can see more here.

On Saturday I'm off to a workshop by Lynda Monk, arranged by Chelmsford Embroiderers' Guild. I'm really looking forward to this, as I don't think I have had the chance to go to a workshop since Craft Arena opened.

Craft Arena will still be open, in the capable hands of Penny.

Back soon.

New Look?

Decided I didn't like the design of the blog, so I've had a bit of a change. Still not sure - I really need to sort out my own background and play with the heading colours, but things have turned manic again!

Four deliveries today, mostly restocking, but the kid's kits I ordered at the trade show the other week have arrived, and they are great! The Learn How to Knitting Kit is brilliant; four balls of lovely coloured wool,
needles, felt with full instructions and patterns. I think it is going to be a big hit for Christmas!

I've also got some
sewing kits; felt jewellery, pretty little love hearts and the sweetest little mouse house complete with occupants!

More Debbie Bliss wool is in too, but I haven't had a chance to open the box to remind me what I've ordered!

And only another week before I'm back at college! Arrgghh!!
