Books, Books, and more Books!

I spent Sunday and Monday of last week at the CHSI trade fair at the NEC in Birmingham, looking for new products for the shop. I've just received my first delivery and it's always my favourite; BOOKS!!!! These are some of my favourites from the two boxes which arrived today.

After the resounding triumph of the first  Great British Sewing Bee series and tie-in book, here is the fabulous follow up. At the heart of this new book is a fantastic selection of projects, with a core collection of wardrobe essentials, from a pencil skirt through an easy T top to a wrap dress. The tempting range of projects reflects the breadth of the TV challenges and includes menswear, a selection of designs for babies and small children and a chapter with more retro and glamorous garments. With a brighter, more fashion-led seleciton of colours and patterns, inspiring photography and a greater emphasis on the creative elements of choosing fabric and trimmings, this will be the essential purchase for everyone who bought the first book and all who watch the new series.

Although this book has US crochet notation, I couldn't resist it! There are inspired original designs for baby boys and girls from newborns to 12 months. Patterns include delightful hats, baby shoes and socks, headbands, skirts, sweaters, blankets, bibs and crochet toys. So sweet!

Discover the joy of making on of a kind art dolls. Marina Druker teaches you how to build wire armatures, work with air-dry clay and build charming fabric sculptures. Eight unique projects including a beautiful mermaid, a fantasy fish, an elegant princess and a sweet teddy bear. Play with new techniques for adorning your doll with paint, creative stitch, trims and quilted costumes. Full size patterns, instructions for stands and frames, as well as an artists' gallery are included.

Under the name of Tiny Owl Knits, Stephanie Dosen has been creating and selling knitting patterns online to much acclaim.  Woodland Knits is a collection of 10 of Stephanie's most popular and iconic designs along with a selection of 11 brand new, never seen before hand knits.  Fabulously photographed in woodland settings, each project incorporates flowers, vines or woodland creatures.  This book is practical, fun and inspiring.

This is just a selection of the new books in stock, with more arriving soon. If you would like to order, please ring or email as I haven't had a chance to put them on the website yet!
