Tantalising Textiles 2014

Following on from the success of our competitions in 2012 and 2013, Craft Arena is pleased to announce our third Tantalising Textiles competition; this year's theme is Monument.

You can interpret this theme any way you wish; you could use an iconic building or landmark as your inspiration, a statue, natural phenomenon or even a person! You can include any type of Textile Art in your work; Mixed Media, Fabric Collage, Embroidery, Cross Stitch, Lace etc. I'm really looking forward to seeing your entries!

We want to encourage people who have never displayed work before, as well as established textile artists, to submit their work for entry into the competition so therefore this year there will be two categories for entry. Category 1 New Exhibitor is for those who have never exhibited anything before.  Category 2 Previous Exhibitor is for anyone who has entered their work into any competition or exhibition in the past.

All entries will be displayed in Gallery 50 at Craft Arena between Tuesday 3rd June and Sunday 29th June 2014.

Judging will be by members of the public and the artwork with the most votes will win a prize.  There will also be a separate prize draw for the voters. There will be a nominal, non refundable, £5 charge for each entry with the monies raised being divided between the prizes and a donation to St. Luke's Hospice in Basildon.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 11th May 2014. You may enter as many times as you wish, but entries must not have been exhibited before. Hanging or 3D items can be submitted but the maximum finished size should be a maximum of A2 (594 x 420 mm) for hanging items and 400 x 200 x 200 mm for 3D items.

If you have any queries or question about the competition, please get in touch.  Entry forms with full term and conditions are available online or email us for a copy.
