It's going to be a busy weekend! Yesterday I drove down to Basingstoke to spend the day with my daugher, her partner and my granddaugher Emily on her 12th birthday. We had a lovely day, shopping, lunching, going to the pictures and then back to their house where two of her friends arrived for a sleep-over. I beat a hasty retreat at this point!
Today I have a day workshop with three lovely ladies making a mixed media book cover. I don't usually hold all-dayers, so I've had to be ultra organised for this one, especially as I wasn't in the studio yesterday. This before they arrive this morning. What it will look like later in the day, is anyone's guess!
Stitch, Cloth, Shimmer & Shine by Sarah Lawrence arrived while I was out yesterday. I can't wait to get stuck into this inspirational book. It's release is tinged with sadness, as Sarah sadly died before she saw it in print.
The book contains many of the elements I love to use in my own work; metal, stitch, friendly plastic and of course loads of the mixed media goodies from Craftynotions, Sarah's company. I urge you to buy this book - even with just a quick skim through before my class starts, I can see it will become a classic.
