With January out of the way, I'm beginning to receive some new publications.
This week I've had two. The first, 'Art at the Speed of Life', Offers terrific mixed-media art projects, as well as tips for getting organized and inspired, it is a treasure chest of ideas for the artist whose creative goals sometimes get stymied by the frantic pace of modern life. Each chapter in Art at the Speed of Life includes both essays and project ideas from a variety of contributors, including Paulette Insall, Nancy Lefko, and Brandi Butcher-Isley. The projects are inspiring, yet easy to complete on a tight schedule, and include techniques such as assemblage, image transfer, and collage. A bonus seven-day journal project helps you track your work as you go.
Mini quilts are popping up all over. Now you can learn the techniques to make magical miniature quilts of your own. In their purest form miniature quilts are scaled-down versions of their full-size quilt block cousins. Classic quilt designs such as Log Cabin, Fans, Kaleidoscope and Churn Dash, just to name a few, are explored in a miniature setting, many with fresh new fabric combinations. Miniature quilts are perfect for stash or scrap quilting. The easy to follow instructions in this book will have quilters completing projects in no time!
